Democratic candidate for the 46th State Senate District, Pat Strong, has recently been making her way around Montgomery County in an attempt to engage with voters.

The 46th State Senate District is comprised of Greene and Montgomery counties, in addition to parts of Ulster, Albany and Schenectady counties. Strong will face off against Sen. George A. Amedore Jr., who was first elected to the position in 2014, in the Nov. 6 election.

Strong said Wednesday, she felt it was the right time to run for the state Senate.

“I’ve been a volunteer in many, many campaigns — probably a dozen. I sat down and counted and since I was in college, it did look like it was about a dozen. I enjoy that,” Strong said. “I enjoy the kinds of bonds that people build when they’re working on a project like getting someone elected to office. There’s so many people coming off the sidelines now, so really I’m just joining the chorus of many. I had been asked to run for other things, but it just never seemed like a good time. But when people asked this time, it seemed like a good year.”
