INDIVISIBLE ULSTER ENDORSES 2018 CANDIDATES

Activist group coalesces behind emerging candidates

New Paltz, NY -  Indivisible Ulster (County) is announcing its endorsement of Jen Metzger for NY State Senate District 42, Pat Strong for NY State Senate District 46, and Juan Figueroa for Ulster County Sheriff.

Says spokesperson Lin Sakai:

“Jen Metzger has a stellar track record of community service and activism that positions her to be a strong and forceful leader in the New York State Senate. She understands the challenges faced by families in rural districts, and will advance support for fully funded schools, healthcare for all, and a clean energy economy that creates good local jobs.  We will support Jen to fix New York’s broken tax system and pass legislation that helps working families.”

“Pat Strong has worked to provide renewable energy to our community, is a strong advocate for small businesses, and a community activist who has worked to revitalize the City of Kingston.  She will bring her deep knowledge of our district to find a more equitable solution to strengthen our education funding, and bring green jobs to strengthen our economy. She will be a strong opponent to George Amedore, whose vote for domestic abusers to keep their guns was just one of the many ways he is out of touch with our district values. We are proud to endorse Pat for the New York State Senate."

“Juan Figueroa has dedicated his life to serving our country--in the United States Marine Corps., New York State Police, and as a community leader in Ulster County. He will be able to merge fresh, new approaches with a rigorous discipline needed to keep our communities safe through a well trained and efficiently run Ulster County Sheriff’s department.”

Earlier this year, Indivisible Ulster endorsed Dave Clegg for U.S. Congress-District 19, because of the “37 years he has spent in the district fighting for progressive values, including his involvement in civil rights, social justice, women's rights and LGBTQ issues. His experience and dedication to our district is unmatched by any other primary candidate, " adds Sakai.

Indivisible Ulster is a grassroots group emerging from the national Indivisible movement to resist agendas of racism, authoritarianism, and corruption at all levels of government. It advocates progressive values and models inclusion, respect, and fairness in all of its actions.
