Strong Endorsed By CVA Supporters
Democratic state Senate candidate Pat Strong on Friday was endorsed by businessman and advocate Gary Greenberg as she backed the passage of a bill that would make it easier for those who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse to file lawsuits.
The bill, the Child Victims Act, has languished in the state Senate over the last several legislative sessions.
Strong is running for the state Senate seat held by Republican Sen. George Amedore.
“Senator George Amedore and the Senate Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for failing New Yorkers by refusing to pass the Child Victims Act,” Pat Strong said. “By ignoring the survivors of this heinous crime, George Amedore is protecting the predators who abused these children and adults. I will fight to pass the Child Victims Act, and I will proudly vote for this bill as a State Senator next year.”
Greenberg is the backer of a political action committee that is endorsing candidates who support the bill. A Greene County businessman, he is the survivor of childhood abuse himself.
“New York State is the worst state for reforming Statute of Limitation laws in child sexual abuse cases,” he said. “Pat Strong, a business and community leader, is the kind of state senator we need in Albany to see that the Child Victims Act passes.”
